THE MANDALORIAN: RECAP

For those who missed The Book of Boba Fett, fans of the show may be confused as to why Grogu shows up in the trailer for this newest season when last we left our hero he made his tearful farewell to his green travelling companion at the end of last season. Grogu was taken by Luke Skywalker in order to be trained in the way of the Jedi however in the aftermath of this departure both characters found themselves missing the other.

Luke senses the conflict within Grogu and eventually places a choice in front of the new padawan. A life harnessing the power of the force with Luke and the Jedi, or a life with his guardian and protector The Mandalorian. Grogu chooses the latter and reunites with Mando before The Book of Boba Fett comes to an end.

In Grogu’s absence Mando returns to his clan only to be shunned and exiled due to his removing of his helmet in the previous seasons, however he is permitted to keep the legendary black lightsaber, the Darksaber. An important relic of Mandalore’s ancient history that will no doubt play a role in the upcoming season. For whosoever should wield the Darksaber has a claim to the rule of all Mandalore.

Mando also gets himself a new ship, one that fans of the prequel trilogy will be sure to recognise as the same Naboo starfighter a young Anakin Skywalker flies in The Phantom Menace.

The Mandalorian is set to release February 2023.
