A trailer for Clone Wars spin off Tales of the Jedi has finally been revealed.

After many months of teases, screenshots and dodgy phone camera vids, Tales of the Jedi finally gets its long awaited announcement trailer. The series will be 6 episodes split into 2 distinct story arcs. One will follow Clone Wars icon Ashoka Tano at different points in her life leading up to and including her Jedi training and the other will follow a younger Count Dooku before his fall to the dark side of the force.

Watch the trailer below!

TALES OF THE JEDI RETURNS TO THE PREQUEL ERA

From what small snippets the trailer shows we will see Ashoka in 3 different stages of her life. Initially it seems we will follow her adolescent years before being taken in by the Jedi, perhaps shedding some light on her family heritage and early upbringing, maybe even the moment she realised she was force sensitive.

The trailer also shows her during her early days as a padawan under the tutelage of Anakin Skywalker who at this point only recently finished his apprenticeship under Obi-Wan Kenobi himself. It will be a great throw back for fans of the early seasons of The Clone Wars TV show as it really explores the dynamic and banterous partnership the two characters have.

Finally it seems we will jump to a period post Order 66 as we are shown Padme’s funeral and what appears to be a rather scary Inquisitor squaring off against Ashoka. This Inquisitor could be where she acquires the red kyber crystals which she then purifies into her white coloured lightsabers shown in Star Wars Rebels and The Mandalorian. This Inquisitor is one we have not met before but with a mask like that they are sure to have an interesting story behind them, perhaps a face of someone we do already know?

WE WILL SEE THE DOWNFALL OF DOOKU

The episodes focusing on a younger Count Dooku appear to follow a similar time jump structure to the episodes following Ashoka. Each episode showing how further and further away Dooku’s ideals line up with those of the Jedi. While a funeral is shown for Padme in Ashoka’s episodes it appears we will see another funeral in Dooku’s story, perhaps of his apprentice Qui-Gon Jinn who we know appears in the series alongside his former master.

Tales of the Jedi

In Star wars lore Qui-Gon Jinn’s death plays a huge part as to why Dooku becomes disillusioned to the Jedi’s teachings and eventually seeks to break away from them permanently before becoming involved with Palpatine and the Sith. This series should hopefully explore the Jedi’s conflict within themselves when it comes to duty versus passion and the light sight versus the light side. Which is truly stronger?

All will be revealed it seems when Tales of the Jedi premieres on Disney+ on October 26th.
