The first trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 has landed, can it continue its success from the first two movies?

Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 has dropped it’s first trailer, with the previously teased Adam Warlock (played by Will Poulter) making his first appearance alongside a fully matured muscle armoured Groot. You can watch the trailer below!

THE GUARDIAN’S RETURN

The last we saw our misfit band of space warriors was a minor appearance at the beginning of Thor: Love & Thunder where they are unfortunately outshined by the titular hero making their job look easy, sort of. Yet while some may have hoped for a reunion between the Guardians and the God of thunder he seems absent from this movie. As said above Adam Warlock makes his first ever live action appearance, with his comic counterpart being extremely powerful to the point of being able to go head to head with Thanos. The trailer seems to suggest that Warlock will come to blows with the Guardians though whether this was simply the trailer’s editing is unclear.

We will also see the fallout from Gamora‘s death in Avenger’s Infinity War and how her past self now interacts with the Guardians seeing as this version of Gamora has no memory of working with them or her romantic involvement with Starlord. It is likely we will at least see her team up with the Guardians at some point in the movie, unless the filmmakers intend for her to take a darker turn, which could be an interesting narrative.

Groot has had quite the transformation himself since his rebirth, growing up in the last phase of Marvel movies essentially from a baby tree into what we now see in this trailer, a walking, talking tree tank. Whether this will be a fully matured adult Groot or more of a brass young adult remains to be seen as the trailer doesn’t give much away.

Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 will release on May 5th 2023.
